What is the red eared slider's habitat?

The red eared slider turtle, also known as a Chrysemys scripta elegans lives in Texas, Illinois, New York, Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, but I do know people who have seen them in Durango, Colorado. Red eared sliders mostly live in water, but they do need land to survive because they need to come up for air. Red eared sliders mostly live in marshes and ponds, but they have been found in lakes.
