What is the red eared slider's habitat?

The red eared slider turtle, also known as a Chrysemys scripta elegans lives in Texas, Illinois, New York, Mexico, Pennsylvania, and Ohio, but I do know people who have seen them in Durango, Colorado. Red eared sliders mostly live in water, but they do need land to survive because they need to come up for air. Red eared sliders mostly live in marshes and ponds, but they have been found in lakes.

How can I take care of a red eared slider turtle?

Like most other animals, a red eared slider turtle needs space. An adult red eared slider turtle has to have a tank with a minimum of 100 gallons. Red eared slider also needs a light and heat source, so you  will need to get a light and heater if you ever want to buy a red eared slider. They will also need their tank cleaned often because they are pretty messy. In the red eared sliders tank there needs to be a rock for the turtle to rest on because, although the red eared slider lives mostly in water, they still need to rest once in a while. Keep these things in mind if you ever want to buy a red eared slider turtle.

What Are Red Eared Slider Turtle's Predators?

Crows, mink, otters, raccoons, pike, garter snakes, chipmunks, thirteen-lined ground and grey squirrels, groundhogs, badgers, grey fox, red fox, and humans are predators of the red eared slider. Red eared sliders mostly have predators when they’re young and even when they're still an egg. They will scratch, kick, bite, or urinate to defend themselves from predators and are able to turn themselves right-side-up when they're tipped over.
